Pastel Rainbow

Hey guys! I have been seeing so many people I follow on instagram posting pictures of the spring collection that Sinful Colors recently released, and I just had to go and get all of them. Pastels are perfect for spring and I'm sure I'll be using these a lot, plus I only paid $1 for each of these because there was a coupon in the Walgreens ad last week (I think this coupon expired, sorry guys.) There are eight colors in this collection and here I'm using five, one for each finger!

Starting with the thumb, Cotton Candy, Orange Cream, Unicorn, Sugar Rush, and Candy Coated. I did three coats of each of these for them to be fully opaque. Cotton Candy, Orange Cream, and Candy Coated have a slight shimmer to them that is barely noticeable and it hardly showed up in the pictures.

I know many people probably wouldn't wear rainbow fingers because it seems slightly childish, but I think it's a great way to do something fun to your nails without an artistic aspect that people often have trouble with. All you really have to know how to do is apply polish! Go crazy with colors!

Zoya Aurora

Hey guys! A couple of weeks ago Zoya had a coupon code for 3 free nail polishes if just pay the shipping. Here is one of the colors that I got, Zoya Aurora. Zoya describes this color as "a full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter." and it is magical!

I added this slightly blurred picture to show the holo

I'll be completely honest and tell you that I've never been very fond of purple. This purple, on the other hand, is filled with holographic amazingness so I thought "Hmm I'll try this out anyway." I can't tell you how glad I am that I got this, I've ever seen anything like it and it's really unique to my collection.

This nail polish is not a straight up holo, the base of this was almost like a jelly and the flecks of holo are larger than in a regular holographic polish. The formula on this was really great. It went on smooth, and this was only two coats!

I also wanted to add that this is my 100th blog post!! Have an awesome day everyone!

Lump Off! Lumpy Space Princess Nails

"WHATEVER IT'S 2009!"  Any Adventure Time fans? If you've ever seen the show I'm sure you know about Lumpy Space Princess or, LSP for short. She is the princess of Lumpy Space, if you couldn't tell already, she's a purple, lumpy teenager with a masculine voice (She's voiced by the shows creator, Pendleton Ward) and she's lumping awesome!

Haha I planned on doing these nails since I purchased Pretty and Polished My Lumps from the Mathematical Collection. The polish is Lumpy Space Princess themed with a purple jelly base and purple and yellow flakie shards. I layered this over one coat of OPI Done Out In Deco on each finger besides my ring finger which has just two coats of Done Out In Deco.

I drew LSP's face and "Lump Off!" with black, yellow and purple acrylic paints. I wanted the letters to have a lumpy look to them, so I used a dotting tool to dot them on. The purple was used for the inside of her mouth and I finished with design with one coat of Seche Vite.

Watercolors!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in a while again, my computer decided it wanted to stop working again.  Everything is good now, and I'm back for real this time haha!

I'm sure you guys may have seen some "watercolor" nails before. I saw a bunch of them last year and never got around to trying it, but I finally did and I really love how them came out!

So, you probably know that this wasn't really made using watercolor, but with nail polish that has been sort of diluted with acetone. Using a nail brush dipped in acetone makes the colors almost like watercolor paints!

I used this tutorial, and started with a white base and picked a few colors that I thought would look nice together. I was going for something that looked like stormy clouds at first, so I started with some gray, blue, and purple, colors. I started with the color that I wanted to show up the least, the gray. After waiting a few minutes for the white to dry, I put about two or three drops of gray onto the white and then, with a brush dipped (not dripping, wipe it off a bit) in acetone, I dabbed with brush onto the dots of color and dabbed it around the nail.

I did this to each nail with each color until I liked the results. At the last minute I added some neon yellow and green (and I'm super happy I did), because it looked really boring and bland with just purple, blue and gray. Then, I finished with one coat of Seche Vite!

I am so in love with how this turned out! You will probably be seeing more watercolors from me in the future. ;)

Here are the colors I used for these nails
  • Essie - Blanc
  • Zoya - Dove
  • Ciaté  - Headliner
  • Essence - A Lovely Secret
  • Color Club - (this one has no label)
  • Funky Fingers - Tortuga
  • Sinful Colors - Neon Melon

Girly Glitter Gradient

Girly Glitter Gradient, say that three times fast.

This week I needed a short break from all of the holiday themed nail designs, so I did this very girly glitter gradient.  My next posts will definitely be holiday nails.

For this I used more Ciaté colors from my Mini Mani Month Calendar. The pink is called Cutie Pie and it's a weird one. The formula is almost a hybrid of jelly and creme and the formula is very build able. Here I used three coats. Again, the formula and drying time on this was awesome. The purple pink glitter is called Magic Carpet and this was one of the exclusives to the Mini Mani Month set.

Snowy Flakes

Snowflakes! Haha there isn't even any snow here yet. I tried to make every snowflake different because every real snowflake is different. I'll also admit that I'm obsessed with the one on my pointer finger. I love how it came out.

For this I used Sephora + Pantone Universe Parachute Purple. It's a dark purple with a blue duochrome. I normally don't like purple, but this is sooooo pretty. It's also a pretty close dupe for RBL Scrangie.

I did the snowflakes with white acrylic paint using a striper and a dotting tool. I also added some iridescent blue loose glitter powder on all of the snowflakes, but it's hard to see any of the color in the photos that I took.

Dry Marble Inspired by Mr.Candiipants

These nails were inspired by Mr.Candiipants' Dry Marble nail tutorial. I really loved them when she first posted the picture, and then she posted the tutorial so I was like "Hey, why not?"

This was actually pretty easy and I think it looks O.K. for being my first try. Next time I'll definitely remember to use a base color that doesn't dry really fast because this would look a lot better if I'd done that. Also, my top coat kinda smeared it... but it's cool.

Kinda reminds me of cheesecake...

Anyway, The colors I used were OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and the gold is ULTA High Roller

Purple! +An Update

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, my computer broke. While my computer is wing fixed I'll update from my phone.

This is a random Forever 21 color and I have no idea what it's called, but it does glow under a black light. I wish I had a black light so I could take an awesome picture of that. The glitter is Maleficent's Magic from Charm Your Nails, it has a green duo chrome/shimmer with green, black , and light purple glitters.

Just Because

I did this a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. Just a green and purple gradient with a tribal accent. I'm really not sure how I feel about that accent. I kinda wish I would've made it white or something.

The green is Illamasqua Nomad and the purple is some no name color from forever 21. It glows under a black light. That's pretty cool, but I don't have a black light so I cant show its awesomeness.

Blossom

My First Post!

Hey everyone! Wow my first post on my new blog! So I've decided that I'm going to start posting all of my nail art here and I'll start with this one I did about a month ago. This is a gradient I did using Essence A Lovely Secret and Essence You Belong To Me with MAC 3D silver on my ring finger.

I did this by using one of the triangle makeup sponges that you can buy almost anywhere. I always wet the sponge first and then squeeze out most of the water, leaving it slightly damp. Then I put the color that I want closer to my cuticle on just like I normally would do my nails but I stop in the middle and finish with the blue on my tips. they after I've done that to all of my fingers, I paint some of the blue onto the sponge and try to dab the colors together. If I need more purple, I dab more purple. Then I finish with a top coat and let it dry. :)
