Pink Poppy

If you couldn't tell already, I really love gradients. This is inspired by this post from Nail Kandy on Tumblr. I never would've thought about putting nude and coral-pink together if I hadn't seen those amazing nails.
Anyway, I just used a triangle sponge for this. I find that it's really the best way to do a gradient. The clean up is a pain in the ass, but the end result looks incredibly smooth and blended. I started with a white base, put my nude and coral-pink color on the sponge, and just dabbed it on my nail and finished with seche vite.

The colors I used were Essie Blanc as my white base. The nude color is Essie Topless & Barefoot and, unfortunately, the coral color has no name but its by a brand called Black Poppy. I got it at Pacsun like a year ago. It's an awesome neon coral color and I have yet to see a color like it. The formula is meh but the color is so gorgeous that it really doesn't matter.

  1. Hi Zoe!
I absolutely love your nail art and would love to feature you on my blog with a special guest post!
Please email me at if you are interested and we can discuss the details from there on!

  2. I love these gradients but I find every time I attempt them using the triangle make up sponges I just have lumpy nails without that lovely colour transition. Do you have any tips on getting them to come out this well?

    1. Do you wet your sponge first? I always get mine completely wet, and then squeeze out the extra water so that it's just a little damp. I also always use some sort of base color like white or, for this, nude. A top coat is pretty much necessary with gradients. Mine always look really funky until I add top coat. I hope that helps! :)

  3. beautiful, ths is how i came across your blog as i repinned it on pinterest
