Roses

So, I was honestly debating whether or not I should post these because a couple of these fingers got ruined by my top coat and my camera decided it wanted to be a jerk and not take pictures correctly. Obviously I decided to post them because I still think they were really pretty.

I used this tutorial from Chelsea's Get Nailed to do these roses. It was pretty easy, and I think my roses came out good. These ones on my thumb came out the best of all of them.

I started with a base of two coats of Butter London Bossy Boots, I freaking love this pistachio green. The roses were Lime Crime Parfait Day, Crema De Limon, Essie Fiesta and white. The leaves were done with Essie Sew Psyched and mixed with some white. Then, I ruined this with one coat of Seche Vite...

Glowstar Gradient

Hey guys! If you're ever in doubt about what to do to your nails, do a glitter gradient. They're really hard to mess up and they look awesome about 95% of the time.

Here I'm using Floss Gloss Glowstar and the glitter is a Color Club, I think this one is called Beyond The Mistletoe. I got this from Ross and it doesn't have a name on it, so I'm not sure if that's what it's called.

I started this out with two coats of Glowstar. This color is a very bright pastel green color. At a quick glace this color could look white, but I can assure you it's not. This was completely opaque in two coats and it dried really fast. I'm really loving this color and it's perfect for spring, so you'll be seeing more from me using this color.

Then, I did a thin coat of the glitter about halfway down each nail and let that dry slightly. When I went back around for the second coat of glitter, I concentrated the glitter more at the tips. I finished this off with, not one, but two coats of top coat to smooth this one out.

Green and Gold Ruffian

So here's the first ruffian mani I've ever done. I really like how this looks, but next time I wont put the top color so close to my cuticle. I tried this one with all shiny top coat first and didn't like it. I think it looks so much better with the green matte and the gold shiny.

The colors I used for this look were OPI Goldeneye and Kleancolor Military Green.

Matte Webs

This will probably be my last mani for Halloween 2012. I planned to do more, but to be completely honest, I'm so over Halloween nails haha. Anyway, I wanted to do some simple spiderwebs but my last nails were matte so I wanted matte again.

This is two coats of Call It A 'treuse from Serum No 5 over one coat of OPI Did It On 'Em with a white spiderweb and Butter London Matte top coat

Forest Lights from Serum No. 5

This is one coat of Serum No. 5 Forest Lights over two coats of China Glaze Agro. I looooooove Forest Lights so much! It's a sheer green with all kinds of different glitters from tiny white squares to big green hexagons! This color could be worn on its own, but I chose to layer it over a dark foresty green. This could probably look awesome over black or blue too.

My Zombie Friend

Ohhh man was I excited to post this. This is another nail design that started out as something completely different, but ended with a result that I totally love. This started out as an alien mani until I just hated it and then went in the direction of zombies.

I know that in the last few years there has been a huge fascination with all things zombies. I'm personally not really into it, nor do I get the obsessions people have with zombie apocalypses, but I am sooooo loving this design. This is partly inspired by the Iron Fist zombie design that they have on some of their clothes but I wanted mine to be a little more gore-y so I added blood and wounds and things.

I did this by first dabbing a bunch of different greens over one solid green color and then I free handed the rest of the design and just made some quick slashes of red over everything.

Here is my long list of colors that I used
OPI- Did It On Em
Kleancolor - Bikini Green
Kleancolor- TLC
Funky Fingers- Tortuga
Kleancolor - Cappuccino
OPI- Red Hot Gift
Generic black and white stripers from ebay

It's October! Halloween nails month is officially here, and I'm starting out with some glowing, green nails. I'm sure if any of you guys browse the nail art tags on tumblr or instagram you've seen Dayglow before. It's a pastel yellow that glows in lowlight from Serum No 5

Here is have one coat of Dayglow over two coats of Kleancolor TLC and on the accent finger I have one coat of Mal-eficent's Magic from Charm Your Nails.

P.S. I'm really sorry that my camera takes horrible lowlight pictures!!!

Purple! +An Update

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, my computer broke. While my computer is wing fixed I'll update from my phone.

This is a random Forever 21 color and I have no idea what it's called, but it does glow under a black light. I wish I had a black light so I could take an awesome picture of that. The glitter is Maleficent's Magic from Charm Your Nails, it has a green duo chrome/shimmer with green, black , and light purple glitters.

Fall Trends: Metallic

I'm sure that if you're like me and read magazines and pay attention to trends you would have sen how huge the metallic trend is this year. This design was inspired by a pair of shoes that I saw in a magazine that had a gold metallic toe.

I didn't want to do a metallic tip on my nails, so I did a fat gold stripe down the middle. This is really just the most simple nail art there is. The green is an Essie color that I got from Ross it doesn't have a name (Just did a quick search and found out that this color is called Sew Psyched), unfortunately, and the gold is ULTA brand called High Roller. I did this design by doing two coats of the green and letting it dry for a few minutes and taking the gold and just doing a stripe down the middle of all of my nails.

FLOAM

Oh man, am I excited for this!  I finally scored a bottle of Floam from Ninja Polish. I've been waiting for this to be restocked for a while now, and when I saw a post on Instagram about it being available I jumped at the chance to get this! It finally arrived today, and I was so excited that I had to take off my other mani just to put this on.

Hit the jump for awesome pictures :D

Metallics

Metallic colors are a huge trend for 2012. Lots of nail polish companies have come out with metallic collections for this year. Personally, I'm not really into metallic nail polish colors that much, but I thought I'd try some out anyway.

What I used
  • Sinful Colors Casablanca
  • Sinful Colors Leap Frog

Casablanca is a silver metallic. The formula is really nice and smooth. I'm actually really surprised that I like this color. I started out thinking that this was going to be a dud. It's not, and it's really beautiful.

Leap Frog is what I would call a dark green gray color. The formula of this one is awesome and this color is really opaque in two coats. It looks slightly more green in real life.

These color actually look really beautiful together, and I'll admit that I love this metallic silver.

Open Seas

Time for another gold leaf gradient! This time I used one of my new Sinful Colors polishes, Open Seas. It's a really pretty sea foam green color. I also used some Essie Gold as it Gets on my ring finger with the gradient.

Just Because

I did this a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. Just a green and purple gradient with a tribal accent. I'm really not sure how I feel about that accent. I kinda wish I would've made it white or something.

The green is Illamasqua Nomad and the purple is some no name color from forever 21. It glows under a black light. That's pretty cool, but I don't have a black light so I cant show its awesomeness.

Sexy Serpent

I've wanted to try doing some snakeskin nails for a while now, but I honestly never imagined they would come out this good on the first try. I was just going to play around with some lace from some old clothes and I thought that I'd just end up taking it off. Now I really wish I would've taken pictures so I could post a tutorial.

       For this I used
  • Essie Blanc
  • Essie Sew Psyched
  • Essie As Gold As It Gets
  • Essence Nude It!
  • Essence High Spirits
  • Essence Black is Black
  • Essence Gold Rush
  • Kleancolor Cappuccino
  • Fresh Paint Oatmeal
  • China Glaze Luxe and Lush
I tried to stay with more earthy nudes and greens and brown shades.

What You Need

  • A small piece of Mesh/Lace
  • A Sponge
  • Small brush

Here's how I did it

  1. I started with one thick coat of white on all of my nails and let it dry completely.
  2. Take the lace and lay it on the nail. Try not to move it while dabbing the colors.
  3. With some tweezers and a small chunk of makeup sponge and started dabbing the lightest nude color I am using.
  4. With a brown or darker nude color I tried to make some lines or diamonds with a small brush that resembled patterns on a snake.
  5. Now I took the greens I had and randomly dabbed them in the more empty spaces.
  6. Just before I took off the lace, I took a tiny amount of black on my brush and went over the parts with the brown to make them stick out more.
  7. Now, slowly pull the lace upwards. It might stick just a little bit but that's okay, I just slightly pushed it back down with my finger.
  8. I took a sheer champagne color and dabbed a small amount around the nail not covering it all the way. This is optional.
  9. I then took As Gold As It Gets and did a coat of that and then a coat of Luxe and Lush. It gives it a scaly and almost wet look.
  10. Two coats of top coat and you're done!

Flower Power

Hey everyone! I hope you had an awesome week! Here are some nails I did using some dried flowers that I got from Sally Beauty Supply forever ago and totally forgot about until the other day we I thought "A dried flower gradient would be awesome!!"

The jade color I used is Illamasqua Nomad. I am loving this color so hard right now. Its not a green or a blue. It's the perfect in-between. So to do this I just crushed up the little dried flowers and stuck them on. I know that's really all I did! Super simple. Then, I added two coats of top coat because I didn't want it to feel extra bumpy.
