OPI Make Him Mine with Rhinestones!

Hey guys! It's been so long since I've posted! I think the last time I posted any nail art was around Halloween. My nails have been in such horrible condition these last few months that I honestly didn't want to post at all, but I've been trying to take extra good care of them so I can start getting back to posting regularly.

The nails I'm wearing today are featuring OPI Make Him Mine from the Mariah Carey Holiday Collection. This was one of the six Liquid Sand shades that were in the collection. This color is a pinkish nude shade with tiny glitters throughout it.

I needed about three thin coats of this for it to be completely opaque. The formula on all of the Liquid Sand polishes in this collection were really good. They weren't thick, they applied evenly and dried nicely.

On my accent nail I added some rhinestones of all different sizes. I haven't used rhinestones for anything in a while, so I really like how this tuned out. Pink and sparkly haha this one seems nice for Valentines Day...

*this was sent for review. All opinions are my own.

Wham! Pow!

Hey guys!  Today's post features some neon and holographic glitter, it's like a rave on my nails.

This orange is Color Club Wham! Pow! and the name is fitting because this color is crazy bright! I needed about three coats and I really should've put this over white, but I didn't. The formula on this one was really meh too, it's kinda thick and it dried before it could even out. I guess the end result is worth it though, because it's so bright and pretty.

The gold glitter I'm wearing is Stun from Floss Gloss. This is a holographic gold glitter and wow, this is awesome. I love everything about this nail polish. I only needed two coats of this and the formula was really great for being a glitter.

The picture below shows the holo-y-ness of the glitter. Super pretty, right?

Daft Nails!

Do you guys like Daft Punk? I do, and If you're like me and you've been waiting for this album for 7 years you're probably excited too.  I did these nails because their new album, Random Access Memories, came out today. I've been listening to the leak for about a week and I think it's pretty awesome!

For these nails I started with two coats of a regular black, I used Essence Black is Back, on each finger.  For the logo on my thumb, I used white acrylic paint. The glitters on my index and middle fingers are Thomas and Guy-Manuel from Daring Digits Daft Punk set that I don't think is available anymore. Thomas (on my index finger) is a silver shimmer with silver hexagons, large red squares, and small black and red squares. Guy-Manuel is a gold base with multicolored square glitters and gold hexagons.

The glitter on my ring and index fingers is just some loose black glitter that I poured over a coat of wet black polish. I used that because I think it looks like those really cool YSL sequin suits that they're wearing now.

I used two coats of top coat on these just to be sure that everything was nice and smooth.

Hard Candy Black Tie Optional

The Walmart near my house finally carries these Hard Candy nail colors so I picked up Black Tie Optional  the last time I was there. This color is freaking awesome. I love it soooo much. This polish has all different sizes of hexagon glitters in black and white and black bar glitters.

I did one coat of this over Ciaté Big Yellow Taxi. I did use two coats of top coat over this because I didn't want the bar glitters to poke out and snag on things like they normally do. I feel like this glitter could work over almost anything. You could put this over poop and it would look nice.

This was a bit difficult to remove, but it's glitter so I kind of expected that.

Hard Candy Gummy Green

Hey guys! I'm sure you've been hearing about those big Hard Candy nail polish displays at some Walmart stores. Only some Walmart stores have these displays and the one closest to my house didn't, but my awesome cousin picked this up for me at hers (thanks Michelle!)

This color is a true turquoise blue with tons of teeny tiny black and silver (they look white because they're in a pigmented base) hex glitters. When I first opened the bottle I really thought this was going to be a nightmare to apply, much to my surprise the formula was good! I only had to use two coats for complete opacity, this went on smooth and I only needed one coat of top coat!

Glowstar Gradient

Hey guys! If you're ever in doubt about what to do to your nails, do a glitter gradient. They're really hard to mess up and they look awesome about 95% of the time.

Here I'm using Floss Gloss Glowstar and the glitter is a Color Club, I think this one is called Beyond The Mistletoe. I got this from Ross and it doesn't have a name on it, so I'm not sure if that's what it's called.

I started this out with two coats of Glowstar. This color is a very bright pastel green color. At a quick glace this color could look white, but I can assure you it's not. This was completely opaque in two coats and it dried really fast. I'm really loving this color and it's perfect for spring, so you'll be seeing more from me using this color.

Then, I did a thin coat of the glitter about halfway down each nail and let that dry slightly. When I went back around for the second coat of glitter, I concentrated the glitter more at the tips. I finished this off with, not one, but two coats of top coat to smooth this one out.

Stormy Stars

Hey guys! Here's another one of the Zoya nail colors that I got with my 3 free. This one is Storm and this came out with the Ornate Collection. This color is a black with tiny holo glitter specks throughout it. This one has less holo than Aurora, and I was slightly disappointed about that, but it's still really pretty.

I also added some Kleancolor Silver Star on my accent nail. I fished the stars out and placed them with an orange wood stick. Then, I finished this with one coat of Seche Vite.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I did this heart look using Essie Leading Lady and Essie Beyond Cozy.  I started with two coats of Leading Lady and then I used a detail brush to add a cute silver heart with Beyond Cozy.

I love these colors a lot and I really was just looking for an excuse to use them again, but Leading Lady is so freaking hard to photograph. This second picture shows the color better, but you have to see this color in real life to see just how beautiful is really is.

Baker Street accented with Whirled Away

I've had China Glaze Whirled away for a while now and have been meaning to use it, but I just kept forgetting. I finally used it earlier this week and I can't believe I've waited so long to use it! I chose to use this color over Nails Inc Baker Street because I felt like this would look best over some sort of cream color.

This one was a little difficult to apply because the glitter is so large and it required some fishing for the large white hexes. I used two coats of Baker Street and two coats of Whirled Away on each accent nail and finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

I little glitter...

My first hand placed glitter. It got a little messed up with the top coat because I wasn't patient haha. The glitter looks purple because of the flash, but it's actually blue. I did this over three coats of The Young Hero from the Pretty and Polished Mathematical collection.

Icicles!

I'd been wanting to do this for a while, half matte icicles!

I used a ton of colors for this. Here goes, The base colors are two coats of Zoya Dove, then one coat of CND Ice Blue Shimmer then one coat of Butter London Matte top coat.

The icicles are plain white striper polish, then white acrylic paint. One coat of Essie Luxeffects Pure Pearlfection over the them, then some loose blue glitter and then a very thin coat of Zoya Frida. Finish off with Seche Vite over the icicles and done.

I was going to do a tutorial, but honestly you just need a base color and a white polish/striper. Start with two coats of your base polish color and let that dry and then do some crazy, chunky white lines!

Girly Glitter Gradient

Girly Glitter Gradient, say that three times fast.

This week I needed a short break from all of the holiday themed nail designs, so I did this very girly glitter gradient.  My next posts will definitely be holiday nails.

For this I used more Ciaté colors from my Mini Mani Month Calendar. The pink is called Cutie Pie and it's a weird one. The formula is almost a hybrid of jelly and creme and the formula is very build able. Here I used three coats. Again, the formula and drying time on this was awesome. The purple pink glitter is called Magic Carpet and this was one of the exclusives to the Mini Mani Month set.

Snowy Flakes

Snowflakes! Haha there isn't even any snow here yet. I tried to make every snowflake different because every real snowflake is different. I'll also admit that I'm obsessed with the one on my pointer finger. I love how it came out.

For this I used Sephora + Pantone Universe Parachute Purple. It's a dark purple with a blue duochrome. I normally don't like purple, but this is sooooo pretty. It's also a pretty close dupe for RBL Scrangie.

I did the snowflakes with white acrylic paint using a striper and a dotting tool. I also added some iridescent blue loose glitter powder on all of the snowflakes, but it's hard to see any of the color in the photos that I took.

King of C-C-Cool

Today I'm wearing King of C-C-Cool from the Pretty and Polished Mathematical Collection. This collection is Adventure Time themed and this polish was inspired by the Ice King.

This is a blue base with all kinds of awesome glitter in it. It has tiny red glitter, small and medium sized hex glitter, medium sized yellow glitter and larger white diamond shaped glitter! This was three thin coats, but this definitely could be layered over other colors.

I really really like this, It's perfect for winter and I actually thought about putting some little snow flakes on it.

Baker Street and Beyond Cozy

Hey guys! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend and had a great holiday, if you celebrated. If anyone went Black Friday shopping, I hope you scored some good deals.

Here are a couple of new nail colors that I got that I thought would look really awesome together.

The blue is Baker Street from Nails Inc. I have been lusting after this color for a while now and I finally got it with my Sephora 20% off VIB. It's a royal blue that is dark and bright at the same time, if that makes sense. The formula on this is smooth and it glides on amazingly.

The silver is Essie Beyond Cozy from the 2012 holiday collection. It's an antique silver micro glitter, so this silver has an almost gold tinge to it. This one is a winner, It also had great and easy application and this is only two coats of it! When I saw it in the bottle, I thought I would for sure need 3 coats, nope.

Holiday Plaid

Ahh the holidays. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, so here is my first official holiday manicure of the season.

This is a glittery red with a black and glitter plaid accent using Essie Leading Lady and Beyond Cozy.

The red is Essie Leading Lady. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with this nail polish. It's a beautiful color, but the formula on this is all wrong. It's thick and goopy and really hard to apply. I only did two coats of this and my nails feel like they have 4 coats of polish on them.

I did the accent nail with a black striper and Essie Beyond Cozy.

Golden Glitter Gradient

Hey guys! I really apologize about my lack of posts. It's been a rough week with all these storms and the unfortunate passing of one of my pets. I really wanted to update, but to be honest I needed a break. But, now I'm back and everything is good!

This is the first time I've ever done a gradient starting at the cuticle and I really like it. You can expect to see these on me a lot more often because I think they are really easy and classy looking. No tools needed, just start with a base color and then a thin coat of glitter halfway up the nail. That's it. Done.

For this I used Zoya Avery and the glitter is Julep Oscar.

Matte Webs

This will probably be my last mani for Halloween 2012. I planned to do more, but to be completely honest, I'm so over Halloween nails haha. Anyway, I wanted to do some simple spiderwebs but my last nails were matte so I wanted matte again.

This is two coats of Call It A 'treuse from Serum No 5 over one coat of OPI Did It On 'Em with a white spiderweb and Butter London Matte top coat

Mermaid Lagoon from Funky Fingers

I'm not sure how many of you guys live near a FiveBelow but, if you do, you need to get there right now and check to see if they have any bottles of this magical nail polish left. If you've never heard of it before, FiveBelow is kind of like a dollar store, but everything is priced at $5 or lower.

The ones near my house always have Funky Fingers brand nail polish (I think this brand is only sold at FiveBelow) and they are always $2 each of 3 for $5 and if you've seen them, you know why I always buy 3.

This one is called Mermaid Lagoon and it had to be mine. It's a glitter nail polish that consists of teal colored micro glitter, along with purple medium sized circles, and large silver hexes. It's super sparkly and it reminds me of the illustrations in the book "The Rainbow Fish"

A+    This nail polish is a new favorite for me, I did use about three coats in these pictures but I probably needed four.

If you do go to Fivebelow and they have this, do yourself a favor and buy Sand and Stilettos too. It's an amazing glitter that is a really close dupe to Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy.

Forest Lights from Serum No. 5

This is one coat of Serum No. 5 Forest Lights over two coats of China Glaze Agro. I looooooove Forest Lights so much! It's a sheer green with all kinds of different glitters from tiny white squares to big green hexagons! This color could be worn on its own, but I chose to layer it over a dark foresty green. This could probably look awesome over black or blue too.
